Hopefully you’ll be able to find answers to some of the questions you might have regarding Speed Dating here. If you still need answers please just get in touch, we’ll be happy to help.
How long does an event last?
The length of each event depends on the number of people attending. The events begin at 8.00pm and will usually end before 10.00pm. However occasionally it might run later if we have people turning up late (we ask everyone to arrive before 7.50pm).
What type of people go Speed Dating?
This is always an interesting topic to talk to guests about because most people have this question in their minds before deciding to come to an event. The truth is that you are reading this right now so the type of people that go Speed Dating are just like you – average and normal (in the best way) people just looking to try something different.
Can I bring a friend who is not participating?
You’re more than welcome to bring a friend for support, however we like to keep the Speed Dating private so that everyone taking part feels relaxed, so they’ll probably have to sit in a different area or a garden if available.
I’m just out of the age bracket for a particular event, can I still attend?
We don’t ask for identification when you turn up to an event and we understand that everyone is different in terms of who they feel more comfortable talking to and ultimately looking to date. If you have any concerns you can always get in touch.
What happens when the event finishes?
Once the Speed Dating has finished you are free to do whatever you please. You might want to stick around for a few more drinks and continue chatting with other guests.
Can I attend an event on my own?
Absolutely. We find that 99% of the people attending come on their own. You’re more than welcome to bring a friend for support, however we like to keep the Speed Dating private so that everyone taking part feels relaxed, so they’ll probably have to sit in a different area or a garden if available.
Are there always even numbers of men and women?
We do our very best to get a 50/50 gender split for every event and most of the time we achieve that but occasionally there are a few things that can hinder that goal:
- Occasionally people get cold feet and just don’t turn up
- Work commitments prevent people from being able to make it on the night
- Sometimes we’ll have people turn up wanting to take part that haven’t booked on the website. When this happens we’ll make sure everyone that has turned up is happy for us to allow an extra person or two
Do you run events other than Speed Dating?
Certainly! Our main passion is helping you to meet other single people and we’d be naive if we thought Speed Dating was the only way to achieve that. We organise other events such as Singles Parties, Mix & Mingle Evenings, Lock & Key Parties and any other kind of event where we can get a large group of single people in the same room. Please keep an eye on our events page for these types of events or get in touch and ask.
How many people attend an event?
We always try our best to get as many people as possible booked on for our events. To make the night fun and worthwhile for everyone we won’t go ahead with an event with under 20 people booked. If we haven’t managed to reach this number 24 hours before the event we will offer everyone a full refund or the chance to move their booking to a future event. See our Terms & Conditions for more information.
How does Speed Dating actually work?
Rather than take up a few paragraphs on this page explaining this I’ll direct you to this page, where we’ve done our best to answer that question.
What happens when there aren’t even numbers?
In the unfortunate situation that we are one or two people short it will mean that you might have to sit without a date for one or two rounds (depending on whether we are short of men or women). When this happens our hosts try their best to come and have a chat so you’re not completely alone.
How long is each date?
Each date lasts 5 minutes. This might sound like quite a long time but we always get told it goes so fast. It’s certainly long enough to see if there’s a spark with that person. And if you find that it’s not quite long enough you can always carry on chatting when the event is finished.
What should I wear to a Speed Dating event?
Smart casual is usually our advice but ultimately you should wear what you feel comfortable in when going on a date.
Will there be other people in the venue (not Speed Dating)?
Most of the venues we use offer us exclusivity of their premises or a separate function room for our events, however occasionally we might use a venue that needs to stay open to the public for various reasons. When this happens we’ll do our best to separate ourselves (sometimes with screens) from people not attending. Please give us a call if you want to know the situation for a specific event and we’ll be happy to let you know the layout.
Do you run LGBTQ Speed Dating events?
We’d love to organise LGBQT events and the only way we can is if we know there are enough people interested. We’d love it if you would take just a minute or two to let us know that you’re interested by going to this page.
How do I find out if I got any matches?
We will email you the morning after the event with the results. If you have any matches (i.e. anyone you ticked that also ticked you) their details will be in that email.
What personal details do you pass on to my matches?
When you arrive you are given a date card on which you’ll tick the people you’d like to see again. There are two checkboxes (’email’ and ‘mobile’) which you must tick at least one of. This informs us of which details you want to pass on to any matches.
Booking & Refunds
How do I book a place on an event?
The only way you can book a place on one of the events via our website. You can view our upcoming events here. Select an event you want to attend and choose either ‘Male Ticket’ or ‘Female Ticket’. You’ll then be asked for a few attendee details – we need these to be able to contact you. You can then click the ‘add to cart’ button and proceed to payment options.
Can I book multiple tickets at once?
Yes. You now have the option to book for multiple people at once. You’ll need to enter the details of each person attending but you only have to go through the payment process once.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all Card Payments and PayPal. Unfortunately we aren’t able to reserve tickets for cash payments on the night – we’ve had too many experiences where we’ve attempted this only to have the attendee not turn up.
What if I can’t make it to an event I’m booked on to?
We appreciate that unexpected things come up that prevent you being able to make to an event. In these situations we just ask that you let us know as soon as you can. This way we can offer your place to someone on our waiting list. In terms of refunds please see our Terms and Conditions for a more detailed explanation of when you’re eligible for a full refund.
Do I get a refund if an event is cancelled?
If we cancel an event for any reason we will try and give you as much notice as possible and offer you a full refund or the chance to move your booking to a future event. For more details please see our Terms and Conditions page.
